WELCOME TO ALLY'S CASTLE
Finally, after a long delay with the settlement of the land, my Castle is starting to come together!
My original plan was to buy an established home as an investment. However, the outragous house prices turned me off. After much research, I began to look into constructing. Then I discovered this little plot of land in Melbourne's western suburbs in June 2009. My decision was clear! Build my first home. The 'waddy' name of the street name convinced me. :)
I signed the Contract of Sale for the land in July 2009.
Filled with excitement, my partner and I spent many nights designing the floorplan. We got our hands on a fantastic program that allows you to create your own floorplan. With hundreds of features, including a 3D option so that you can 'walk' through the house, this program was great!!
We ended up with about 16 different floorplans, as we tried our best to include drive thru access to the garage (for my partner, of course). However, this seemed impossible with a block of only 12.5 metre frontage.

By August, we decided on a plan and sat down with our builder, Franky from Lifestyle Building Services. He allowed us to bring in our own plan and helped us achieve our goal. We found a smaller builder to be much more personal and flexible compared to bigger builders. Top marks so far for our builder!! :)
It was not until March 2010 when the land FINALLY settled!

My block required a 'P' class slab. This picture shows the several holes filled with concrete before the slab was poured.
